FUTURE INITIATIVES
At AAC, we are committed to expanding our capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the aerospace industry. Our future initiatives focus on enhancing national security, supporting scientific research, and providing increased access to space for commercial and government clients. Two key projects leading this vision are the Aleutian Test Range and the Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR) operations, licensing, and instrumentation upgrades.
Pacific Test Range (PTR)
AAC is actively developing an Aleutian test range (PTR) designed to support advanced testing and launch operations, including hypersonic vehicle testing, missile defense programs, and responsive space missions. Strategically positioned in Alaska, this range offers vast overflight corridors with minimal population impact, providing an ideal environment for complex aerospace tests and demonstrations.
The development of PTR enhances Alaska’s role in national security initiatives while offering a dedicated site for cutting-edge aerospace technologies. By collaborating with federal agencies, defense contractors, and commercial partners, AAC aims to make this test range a premier location for testing next-generation aerospace systems.
Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR) – Licensing, Instrumentation, and Operations
AAC is also engaged in supporting operations at the Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR)—the world’s largest land-based rocket range dedicated to scientific research and atmospheric studies. To improve the range’s capabilities, AAC is working on comprehensive upgrades, including:
- Licensing Support: Assisting with FAA and regulatory compliance to ensure PFRR remains a key resource for suborbital launches and scientific missions.
- Instrumentation Upgrades: Enhancing tracking systems, telemetry equipment, and data collection capabilities to provide high-precision measurements for research and defense applications.
- Operational Improvements: Streamlining launch operations, logistics, and safety protocols to accommodate a growing demand for research flights and experimental launches.
These enhancements will expand PFRR’s capacity to support climate research, space weather studies, and defense-related projects, ensuring it remains a vital asset for the scientific community and national security initiatives.
