Mission, Vision, Values

At Alaska Aerospace Corporation (AAC), our mission is to provide reliable, efficient, and innovative space launch services that support national security, commercial ventures, and scientific exploration. We are dedicated to enhancing Alaska’s role in the global aerospace industry through sustainable operations, technological excellence, and strong partnerships.

In 2024, our leadership team updated our official vision statement to:

"Alaska Aerospace Corporation's (AAC) Pacific Spaceport Complex–Alaska (PSCA) is our core business, enabling aerospace leadership, jobs, and industry growth in the Last Frontier."

At AAC, we are guided by core values that drive our mission and shape our operations. We prioritize integrity, operating with honesty, transparency, and accountability in all our relationships. Innovation is at the heart of what we do, as we embrace cutting-edge technology and creative solutions to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Safety remains our top priority, ensuring the well-being of our team, customers, and the environment. We value collaboration, fostering strong partnerships with government agencies, commercial clients, and local communities to achieve shared goals. Our commitment to environmental stewardship ensures that we operate responsibly, protecting Alaska’s pristine natural surroundings. Through a culture of excellence, we strive to continuously improve, delivering high-quality services that exceed expectations and solidify our role as a leader in the aerospace industry.

Advantage of being a State-owned Corporation

Being a state-owned corporation gives AAC a solid foundation, but what really sets us apart is our independence. Since 2014, we’ve operated without state or federal funding, relying entirely on the revenue we earn from launches and support services. This means we get the best of both worlds: the stability of being state-owned and the flexibility of a private company.

Without the red tape that comes with government funding, we can move quickly to meet our customers’ needs. The aerospace industry changes fast, and our ability to adapt on the fly has made the PSCA a go-to choice for both commercial and government clients looking for timely, affordable launch solutions.

Our financial independence also keeps us focused on delivering top-quality service—our success depends on it. Every dollar we make goes back into improving our facilities, investing in technology, and supporting our team, helping us stay competitive and customer-driven.

At the end of the day, being state-owned but self-funded lets us stay agile, accountable, and customer-focused, all while supporting Alaska’s economy and the future of space exploration.

Governance

AAC is guided by a Board of Directors appointed by the Governor of Alaska. This diverse group includes leaders from business, the military, education, and the aerospace industry, ensuring a well-rounded approach to decision-making and strategic planning. Legislative representatives also serve on the board, helping us stay aligned with Alaska’s broader goals and community interests.

Our executive team—including the CEO, CFO, COO, and Kodiak General Manager—takes the board’s direction and turns it into action. They focus on keeping operations running smoothly, supporting customer needs, and ensuring our facilities and services remain top-notch.

This governance structure allows AAC to balance strong oversight with the flexibility to innovate and respond to industry demands. It ensures we operate with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to excellence in everything we do.

More information about the board's structure, responsibilities, and membership can be found on the Alaska Boards and Commissions website here.
